A little news before we get to the lineups.

The Twins failed to agree to terms with righthander Kyle Cody by today's deadline. Cody, taken with the 73rd overall pick in the June draft, will return to Kentucky to play his senior season.

Teams had until 4 p.m. central time to sign their picks. The value of the 73rd pick in this years draft was $839,700.

It's little bit of a blow to the Twins, who drafted Cody believing they had a shot to sign him. The 73rd pick was a competitive balance compensation pick. And the Twins signed Ervin Santana comfortable with losing their second round pick because they had a pick in the competitive balance round.

Ouch.

Back to the field, where the Twins are holding an early workout. Manager Paul Molitor had the team huddled around the pitcher's mound as he addressed his men. Will check back later with any updates.
