After giving up seven earned runs in the first inning on Monday in Detroit, the Twins have optioned righthander Jose Berrios to Class AAA Rochester.

The Twins have called up lefthander Taylor Rogers from Rochester to replace him.

Berrios, the Twins top pitching prospect and one of the better prospects in the game, made four starts for the Twins, during which he posted a 10.20 ERA. He has struggled with his command throughout his time with the Twins, with Monday's outing being by far the worst.

This will be Rogers' second stint with the Twins. He made one appearance for them in April before returning to Rochester. Since then, he's 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA for the Red Wings.

It will be interesting to see who the Twins tab to replace Berrios in the rotation. Lefthander Pat Dean, who gave up two runs over 51/3 innings in relief of Berrios on Monday, is in the picture.
