Two northern Minnesota teens were killed in a head-on collision with a truck in Hubbard County on Wednesday evening.

Road conditions were icy as the two 16-year-olds — one boy and one girl — headed south on Hwy. 71 around 6:30 p.m. The driver, who has yet to be identified, lost control of the sedan and veered into the northbound lane, where it was struck by an oncoming truck.

Both teenagers were killed in the crash, according to the State Patrol. The male was from the tiny town of Laporte, Minn., while the girl was from Bemidji. Their names have not yet been released.

The driver of the truck, a 53-year-old man from Park Rapids, Minn., was seriously injured and taken to Sanford Health in Bemidji.

Bemidji police and the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office are investigating.
