The Gophers men's hockey team's second Big Ten game of the season against Penn State was moved to Oct. 15 to avoid a Saturday night conflict with the football team.

With the football team playing host to Michigan State at 7 p.m. Oct. 14, at TCF Bank Stadium, the hockey team's series finale against the Nittany Lions was pushed back to 3 p.m. Oct. 15.

Fox Sports North will televise the Sunday game.

U volleyball at No. 6

With their second loss in as many weeks, the Gophers volleyball team fell three spots to No. 6 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

The Gophers (13-2), ranked No. 1 two weeks ago, lost at Nebraska on Friday, after losing at home to Michigan State the previous weekend. The Cornhuskers (11-3) jumped up to No. 4, with the top three teams — Florida, Stanford and Penn State — remaining the same.

• Southwest Minnesota State remained the top-ranked program in Division II. The Mustangs (15-0) are off to the best start in school history. No. 2 Concordia (St. Paul) (14-1) and No. 6 Minnesota Duluth (13-2) also stayed at their same rankings in the AVCA poll.
