Crazy for orchids

For two days, orchid worshipers can immerse themselves among hundreds of tropical blooming cattleya, phalaenopsis, cymbidium and other varieties at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 28-29. The Winter Carnival Orchid Show also features tips on cultivating and caring for the popular indoor plants, from members of the Orchid Society of Minnesota, as well as quality orchids for sale.

American Orchid Society judges from throughout the Midwest will give out awards and points at the show. The public can vote on the best Winter Carnival-themed display at the Orchid Society of Minnesota's Facebook page. Admission: $5 for adults; $3 for ages 3-12. Home-improvement ideas

The Minneapolis Home + Remodeling Show continues at U.S. Bank Stadium, featuring more than 250 displays and resources for home-improvement, interior design and remodeling projects, as well as special presentations by visiting experts, and exhibits highlighting shipping-container homes and dog furniture.
