Minnesota Vikings' Brett Jones (61) practices at the NFL football teams practice facility in Eagen, Minn., Monday, Aug. 27, 2018. Vikings center Pat Elflein was held out of the entire preseason while rehabbing from ankle and shoulder surgeries, putting his availability for the opener in doubt. The Vikings re-signed center Brett Jones to a one-year contract Monday.

Jones, 27, was acquired in a trade from the Giants for a 2019 seventh-round draft choice in August and played in 14 games for the Vikings, including three starts at center while Pat Elflein recovered from injuries.

A native of Saskatchewan, Jones won a Grey Cup with Calgary in 2014 and was the Canadian Football League's most outstanding lineman that season, after which he signed with the Giants.

The 6-2, 310-pound Jones started 14 of his 30 games with the Giants from 2015-17. He made $2.914 million last season, but his deal for 2019 has a base salary of $850,000.

• Free-agent quarterback Sean Mannion visited the Vikings on Monday, the team announced. Mannion, 26, was a third-round pick by the Rams in 2015 and has completed 33 of 53 passes for 258 yards in his NFL career.

• NFL offseason workout dates were announced Monday. The Vikings' first day is April 15. OTAs will be May 21-23, May 28-30 and June 3-6. The team's minicamp is June 11-13.
