Viola Davis knows about struggle, from a childhood of extreme poverty to decades of secondary roles that didn't match her talent. That's all changed with her starring part in the ABC hit, "How to Get Away With Murder." She recommended a book that's helped her get over the rough patches.

"I really love Joseph Campbell's 'A Hero With a Thousand Faces.' I always go back to that. He talks about the importance of rituals in a person's life and how you use them to get through life. He talks about the path and journey of a hero, living a life bigger than yourself. That's an important read for anyone."
