Von Maur has agreed to build one of its stores in new space at Rosedale Center.
Von Maur will add a second Twin Cities store in Rosedale
The Davenport, Iowa-based department store will occupy a two-story, 140,000-square-foot expansion space at the mall, Pat Trudgeon, Roseville city manager, said Wednesday.
The Davenport, Iowa-based department store will occupy a two-story, 140,000-square-foot expansion space at the mall, Pat Trudgeon, Roseville city manager, said Wednesday.
Construction is expected to start next year in the location of an existing parking ramp at the mall. The store is expected to open in 2018. A new parking ramp with 450 spaces will be added to replace the parking lost to the Von Maur site.
Rosedale is home to three other anchors, Macy's, J.C. Penney's and Herberger's. In the annual holiday spending survey of the Twin Cities, Rosedale is the first or second choice that Twin Cities shoppers plan to visit at least once during the holidays. Rosedale's sales of $600 per square foot are exceeded only by the Galleria in Edina and Mall of America in Bloomington.
The retailer's new store will be the same size as the new Nordstrom store at Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka. Ridgedale underwent a major remodeling and an addition of more than 20 new retailers when Nordstrom expanded in the former Macy's Men + Home location.
Rosedale property manager Jones Lang LaSalle plans an interior renovation of the mall, likely before Von Maur opens. Some exterior improvements are also planned, Trudgeon said, with space for a few additional retailers.
Von Maur has 30 stores in 14 states, including Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Michigan. Its sole store in the Twin Cities is at Eden Prairie Center.
Many of its customer service policies are comparable to Nordstrom, including a liberal return policy, interest-free store credit card, free gift wrap and free shipping and returns for online orders.
