The Wild's annual summer Development Camp begins Thursday and lasts until July 14 at Xcel Energy Center. The camp is for unsigned draft choices, any player on an entry-level contract with less than 120 NHL games played (no more than 70 games the previous season), draft-related unrestricted free agents, undrafted draft-eligible players from the preceding draft and non-entry level players who finished the preceding season injured or unfit to play.

This year's Development Camp will feature two scrimmages that are free and open to the public at Xcel Energy Center. Open scrimmages (30-minute running time halves) will occur on Saturday, July 11 at 2:30 p.m. and Tuesday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. Gate 1 will open at 2 p.m. on July 11 and at 6 p.m. on July 14.

The Wild has invited 46 players, including 23 draft picks. Some players scheduled to attend include Brady Brassart, Brody Hoffman, Mario Lucia, Zack Mitchell, Zach Palmquist, Avery Peterson, Mike Reilly and Alex Tuch, along with six players selected in the 2015 draft.

Draft pick Kirill Kaprizov is not coming. He and most of the Russian players elsewhere are already training with their pro teams. He'll be coming to Calgary with the Russian U-20 team for exhibition games vs. Canada early next month.

Some interesting invitees: The Gophers' Sam Warning, goalie Charlie Lindgren from St. Cloud State, Saskatoon native Ryan Graham, a forward who made it to main camp last year but was diagnosed with mono and couldn't take part and Warroad's Jared Bethune, who plays in the Western Hockey League.

Iowa Wild Head Coach John Torchetti, Minnesota Wild Director of Player Development Brad Bombardir, Player Development Coach Richard Park and Skating Skills Coach Andy Ness will lead the on-ice sessions.

I will be filling in for Paul Allen on KFAN (100.3-FM) Tuesday and Wednesday from 9-noon. My guests Tuesday include Wild first-round pick Alex Tuch, Wild assistant GM Brent Flahr and Trampled by Turtles lead singer Dave Simonett during the entire second hour live and in-studio.

More guests, too. I believe Richard Park and another prospect will be joining me Wednesday.

I'll be back later with another blog, most likely. I am also doing a podcast today with columnist Jim Souhan that I'll post and tweet out later.

Here is the development camp roster (if this is tough to read, click here or go to wild.com):

Iowa Wild head coach Derek Lalonde in Xcel Energy Center before the Minnesota Wild faced Colorado Tuesday night. ] JEFF WHEELER ï jeff.wheeler@startribune.com Derek Lalonde was named the fourth head coach in Iowa Wild history in June. He visited St. Paul when the Minnesota Wild played their first home preseason game of the year against the Colorado Avalanche Tuesday night, September 27, 2016 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The Detroit Red Wings fired coach Derek Lalonde on Thursday and named Todd McLellan as his replacement, a major change by general manager Steve Yzerman more than a third of the way through another disappointing season in the place known as ''Hockeytown.''
