A St. Paul woman who was struck by a car while trying to cross a busy East Side street last Monday has died, police said.

Erin Elizabeth Durham, 34, had been taken to Regions Hospital in critical condition, and died there Saturday night, according to a GoFundMe page set up by her family.

Durham, a mother of two, had just dropped off her children at a bus stop when she was waved into the crosswalk at Maryland Avenue and Greenbrier Street by a motorist who had stopped in the lane nearest her. A second motorist continued driving, however, and struck Durham when she stepped into the second lane.

The crash occurred about 8:10 a.m., and left Durham with severe head injuries.

On Sunday, police spokesman Sgt. Mike Ernster said that the driver of the car that hit Durham has been cooperating, "but the investigation is ongoing."

The GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/26suvec seeks to raise $20,000 for her children's care, and had collected $150 as of early Sunday night.
