The Vikings have officially released the list of their final cuts, and offensive lineman David Yankey is among them. Yankey, who did not play a single snap as a rookie, was battling to be a backup lineman. He is eligible for the practice squad. We'll see if the Vikings bring him back.
Yankey, Fruechte among final cuts; Vikings trade for Chargers guard
The Vikings have officially released the list of their final cuts to get the roster to 53 players.
The Vikings have also parted ways with 2015 sixth-round pick Tyrus Thompson. Thompson, who lined up at both tackle and guard this summer, suffered a concussion in Thursday's loss.
With those two linemen on the outs, the Vikings have traded a draft pick, reportedly a sixth-rounder, for Chargers guard Jeremiah Sirles, a league source confirmed. Sirles, an undrafted free agent in 2014, played two games for the Chargers last season. NFL Network was the first to report the deal.
Former Gophers wide receiver Isaac Fruechte was also one of the cuts. But he is a practice squad candidate, according to a league source.
