Officials on Tuesday identified the occupant of a pickup truck who died during a collision with a Metro Transit bus over the weekend in Minneapolis.

Saleema Lee Ames, 41, of Minneapolis, suffered multiple injuries late Sunday when the pickup struck a D-Line bus on S. Chicago Avenue as it crossed E. 25th Street, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said. Ames died at the scene, the examiner's office added.

Officials have yet to say whether Ames or someone else was driving the truck.

Six people on the bus were taken by ambulances to hospitals for treatment of noncritical injuries, said Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr.

Preliminary information indicates the pickup driver failed to obey a stop sign before entering the intersection and hitting the bus, Kerr said.

The D-Line is a rapid transit route that runs between Brooklyn Center and the Mall of America in Bloomington.
