STORM STATS Snow started falling about 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31. Four days later, these still-standing Twin Cities records had been set:

Most snow in a single storm:

28.4 inches

Most snow in 24 hours (Oct. 31-Nov. 1):

21 inches

Most snow on Oct. 31:

8.2 inches

Most snow in month of October:

8.2 inches

Most snow on Nov. 1:

18.5 inches

OTHER STORM RECORDS

• 36.9 inches in Duluth, then the greatest single snowfall in Minnesota history. Surpassed Jan 6-8, 1994, by 46.4 inches at Finland.

• Contributed to Twin Cities' single monthly and November snowfall records: 46.9 inches.

• Earliest autumn subzero low: -3 degrees, Nov. 4.

• Only significant Twin Cities snow record not broken by the storm: Greatest snow depth, 38 inches, Jan. 23, 1982. (Halloween blizzard greatest depth: 23 inches, fifth deepest.)
