Two fights at the Minnesota State Fair over the weekend resulted in one police officer being injured, one man arrested, one man being hurt and a couple of citations, fair officials reported Monday night.
2 fights reported at Minnesota State Fair
The first incident happened about 12:05 a.m. Sunday, when an off-duty police officer at the scene of a fight reported that he was head-butted, said fair spokeswoman Brienna Schuette. Witnesses, however, said he was kicked in the head.
The suspect was arrested on the fairgrounds. No charges have been filed.
About 2:30 p.m. Sunday, two men got into a fight, resulting in one of them suffering a dislocated shoulder. The first man threw a beverage into the face of another man. The second man then hit the first one, causing him to hit a wall and injure his shoulder.
The two men were cited, the first with disorderly conduct and the second for fifth-degree assault, Schuette said. She said the second man was escorted off the fairgrounds.
No motives for the fights were disclosed, but WCCO TV (Ch. 4) reported that the second one was between supporters and opponents of proposed Minnesota marriage amendment.
