2017 prep fall sports calendar
Monday is the first day of practice for most high school fall sports in Minnesota. Here are some key dates:
Football
Aug. 31-Sept. 1: First game for most teams
Oct. 18: Final regular-season games for most teams
Oct. 24: First day of playoffs except Class 6A
Oct. 27: Opening round of Class 6A playoffs
Nov. 2-4: Section championship games
Nov. 9-11: State quarterfinals, various sites
Nov. 16-18: State semifinals, U.S. Bank Stadium
Nov. 24-25: Prep Bowl, U.S. Bank Stadium
Volleyball
Aug. 24: First allowed date for matches
Oct. 24: First date of section playoffs
Nov. 2-4: Section finals
Nov. 9-11: State tournament, Xcel Energy Center
Soccer
Aug. 24: First allowed date for games
Oct. 10-12: First dates of section playoffs
Oct. 18-20: Section finals
Oct. 25: State quarterfinals, various sites
Oct. 31-Nov. 1: State semifinals, U.S. Bank Stadium
Nov. 3: Championship games, U.S. Bank Stadium
Girls' tennis
Aug. 17: First allowed date for matches
Oct. 2-6: First week of section tournaments
Oct. 24-27: State tournament, Baseline Tennis Center (2A) and Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center (1A)
Girls' swimming
Aug. 24: First allowed date for meets
Nov. 8-11: Section meets
Nov. 16-18: State meet, University of Minnesota Aquatic Center
Cross-country
Aug. 24: First allowed date for meets
Oct. 25-27: Section meets
Nov. 4: State meet, St. Olaf College in Northfield
Adapted soccer
Aug. 28: Official start of practice
Sept. 7: First allowed date for games
Nov. 17-18: State tournament, Stillwater High School
