3 weird things in the Minneapolis skyways

• The dim vacant pit — the term "atrium" is no doubt preferred — in the TCF Bank building. With the dry fountain, an immense U.S. flag and no sign of life, it's like a scene from "The Day After."

• The long stretch of skyway along 2nd Avenue toward the river. It can be a sunlit wonder, but watch your footing toward the east, where the floor takes on a subtle, inexplicable slant.

• The link that doubles as Macy's menswear department. Early commuters pass tables of merchandise draped with cloths. . Smile; you're on camera.
