3-year-old critically injured in Brooklyn Park dog attack

The toddler was being mauled by two pit bulls when officers arrived. One dog was killed and the other injured. The child was taken to the hospital.

A 3-year-old was attacked and critically injured by two dogs in Brooklyn Park, police said.

Officers arrived at the 7500 block of Brooklyn Park Drive N. around 12:45 p.m. Friday to find two pit bulls attacking the child, police said in a post on Facebook. Several officers shot their guns, killing one dog and injuring the other.

Officers performed life-saving measures on the toddler before he or she was taken to the hospital. The child was in critical condition as of Friday afternoon.

The surviving dog was taken to an animal care facility. Police are investigating the incident.
