A construction worker at the Interstate 35W bridge site in Minneapolis suffered a dislocated shoulder Wednesday after a load of plastic PVC pipe fell off a forklift and hit him.

He was taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center but was released Wednesday night, said Jon Chiglo, project manager for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The worker was expected to return to work today.

The accident occurred on the north side of the river in the construction storage area around 4 p.m. The forklift was on land, not on the bridge.

Peter Sanderson, project manager for Flatiron, the bridge contractor, said there have been no lost-time injuries at the site. The bridge is expected to open in September or October.
