82-year-old pedestrian struck, killed by car in St. Paul

The man was crossing Snelling Avenue at Highland Parkway in St. Paul when a minivan turning left struck him in the crosswalk.

An 82-year-old St. Paul man died Friday afternoon after being struck by a car while he was crossing the street, St. Paul police said.

Roger Charles Solheid was walking across Snelling Avenue in the crosswalk at Highland Parkway about 3 p.m. Friday when he was struck by a minivan turning left onto Snelling. He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the minivan, Dean Gordon Soderling, 63, of Richfield, is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
