A day to defrost is in sight

Nevermind that Tuesday will be a repeat of Monday with cold and windchills that will bring some of Minnesota's hardiest to their fleece-lined knees. Wait for Wednesday.

A brief warm-up will bring relief to the winter weary and get kids back in school.

Tuesday's high temperature in the Twin Cities is expected to hit no higher than zero, with windchills that will make it feel like minus 40 at times. But by Wednesday, sunny skies and a high of 24 may have some metro residents shedding a few woolen layers.

Unfortunately, polar temperatures will hit again later in the week, with Thursday's high temperature dropping to 10 degrees.

On Monday, the dangerous cold proved to be deadly.

A 58-year-old woman was found dead a little before 8 a.m. Monday, close to Cleveland and Yorkshire Avenues in St. Paul. Police said they believe she died from complications of a medical condition, but an official cause was not yet available, said St. Paul police spokesman Sgt. Paul Paulos. The woman, whose name was not released, was dressed appropriately for the weather, he said.

In McLeod County, west of the Twin Cities, a man was found dead about 11 a.m. Monday, after being reported missing since Sunday, according to the McLeod County Chronicle. His car was found near the city of Stewart, and he was found about 2½ miles from the car. His name, age and exact cause of death have not been released.
