Both the Walker's Loring Park series and Star Tribune's Lake Harriet Bandshell pairings start next week.

Walker Art Center Summer Music & Movies

Theme: "Living on Video," based on the documentarian-themed exhibit "Ordinary People."

Monday: Hüsker Dü rocker Grant Hart with the Beatles' breakthrough movie "A Hard Day's Night."

Aug. 8: Ambient folk-rock strummers the Pines with John Waters' cult-loved musical "Hairspray."

Aug. 15: Hard-hitting, all-star hip-hop trio Mixed Blood Majority with the hard-schwinging "SNL" offshoot "Wayne's World."

Aug. 22: Teen punks Bruise Violet with the 1929 Russian classic "Man With a Movie Camera," featuring a live original score by producer/DJ Big Cats (Spencer Wirth-Davis).

Theme: Summer camps, based on summer. And camps.

Friday, Aug. 5: Kid-friendly dance-rap duo Koo Koo Kanga Roo with the Judd Apatow co-written 1995 fat-camp comedy "Heavyweights."

Aug. 12: Innovative women's vocal ensemble Prairie Fire Lady Choir with the Shelly Long-led 1989 Girl Scout farce "Troop Beverly Hills."

Aug. 19: Acclaimed singer/songwriter Chastity Brown with Wes Anderson's most warped film "Moonrise Kingdom."

Aug. 26: Vintage country harmonizers the Cactus Blossoms with the original 1961 "Parent Trap."
