Two ACC/Big Ten Challenge games were postponed Monday: No. 25 Louisville at No. 13 Wisconsin and North Carolina State at Michigan. Both games were scheduled for Wednesday and might be made up later in the season.
Louisville on Thursday announced it was pausing team-related activities indefinitely due to a positive COVID-19 test and contact tracing measures within its program. That already caused Louisville to cancel its home game with North Carolina Greensboro that had been scheduled for last Friday.
Wisconsin will still play on Wednesday — but the Badgers will have a different opponent. Rather than facing Louisville that night, Wisconsin will play host to Rhode Island in a game starting at 3:30 p.m.
N.C. State had to cancel Saturday's "Bubbleville" matchup with Connecticut in Uncasville, Conn., after a member of the Wolfpack traveling party had a positive COVID-19 test. Michigan said it has no current coronavirus issues.
The remaining ACC/Big Ten Challenge games are on for now, including No. 16 North Carolina at No. 3 Iowa and No. 6 Illinois at No. 10 Duke on Tuesday and No. 4 Michigan State at No. 18 Virginia on Wednesday.
• The No. 2 Baylor men's team is looking for a replacement foe for its scheduled home opener. The Bears were supposed to play Nicholls State on Tuesday, but the Colonels had positive COVID-19 tests in their program.
Stanford women No. 1
Stanford moved to the top of the latest Associated Press women's basketball poll, after previous No. 1 South Carolina lost at home to then-No. 8 North Carolina State on Thursday.
The Cardinal's next victory will be the 1,908th for coach Tara VanDerveer, tying her for the all-time record with Pat Summitt. When and where that might happen, however, is up in the air.
