Intoxication is being blamed for a two-vehicle crash on a river bridge in western Hennepin County that killed a man, authorities said Sunday.

Waylon D. Vaughn, 36, of Elk River, has been identified as the driver who died in the collision about noon Wednesday at 109th and Rosedale avenues in Hanover, according to the Sheriff's Office and the medical examiner's office.

Vaughn's vehicle veered into oncoming traffic on the bridge over the Crow River and hit a commercial vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

"We believe alcohol was a factor for the driver who died," a statement from the Sheriff's Office read. Vaughn was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale and was declared dead about an hour later.

Two people in the commercial vehicle suffered minor injuries.
