Alexandria Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tournament

Mother Nature again decided to put the anglers of the 2009 Silverado Pro-Am Bass tour through below normal temperatures for the second event on the Alexandria Chain of Lakes. But making countless casts and working hard helped make the day a successful one!

I was very fortunate to be paired with John Roundsley of the Thorne Brothers fishing team. I had met John at the first event on Green Lake so I knew we were going to have a fun day on the water! Pre-fishing on Friday, we fished both shallow on deep water across the whole Le Homme Dieu Chain and I learned a lot from John about the chain and on fishing deep. Myself being a River Rat, I have a lot to learn about fishing the mysterious deep water.

Much like the first event of the Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tour on Green Lake, Mother Nature through a curve ball at us with high winds and record low high temperatures. Our game plan for tournament day was to fish shallow water that had vegetation around boat docks.

We had a great start to the morning and upgraded our limit throughout the day and ended up bringing in our 6-fish limit for 11.36 lb's. This was good enough for 19th place and despite not cashing a check, John and I viewed the day as a success. Both John and I gained valuable points for the year end championship and we also didn't lose or miss any fish, we were just one big fish away from the money.

Our two key lures were:
1) RC Tackle 1/4 oz. Swim Jig in Sexy Shad
2) Sweat Beaver and craw tube

I want to thank John for a great day on the water and the Silverado Pro-Am Bass Tour and all of their sponsors for giving us the opportunity to fish at such a high level!
