Sweetest Play of the Year

Title-winning dunk

Cretin-Derham Hall

Why the play won: Sure, Daniel Oturu's dunk with two seconds left capped Cretin-Derham Hall's 79-78 victory and Class 4A boys' basketball championship. But the big man needed Ryan Larson's smart, unselfish lob pass. And don't forget Sy Chatman, who started the sequence — and saved his team's season — by grabbing the ball after Apple Valley nearly swiped the inbound pass. A good bounce, a great lob, an awe-inspiring dunk added up to the Sweetest Play of the Year.

What was said: "I think it was just preparation throughout the season. The whole season, I've been throwing [alley-oops] up to [Oturu and Chatman]. I knew I had the best big man in the nation who was going to go up and get it." — Ryan Larson describing the Raiders' final-play flourish
