Anoka woman killed in Coon Rapids car crash

An 84-year-old Anoka woman was killed Thursday in a car crash near the intersection of Coon Rapids Boulevard Extension and Coon Rapids Boulevard.

The woman, driving east on Coon Rapids Boulevard in a Mercury Cougar, crossed the center median into oncoming traffic, colliding with a minivan, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. The crash occurred about 3 p.m. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she died.

The minivan's driver, a 61-year-old woman from Coon Rapids, was hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The crash is being investigated.
