Why line up at a big-box store for mass-produced stuff when local potters offer gifts handmade right here in Minnesota? For the past 15 years, these local talents -- 11 are participating this year -- have been showing and selling their vases, plates, platters and other pottery in an annual festival of friendship and talent. Some work in delicate porcelain, others in sturdy stoneware, including Sandra Shaughnessy of St. Louis Park, who produced the autumnal plate shown here.
