Lickliter, de Jonge share qualifying lead Frank Lickliter II and Brendon de Jonge shot 10-under-par 62s on Wednesday at Orange County National to share the first-round lead in the six-round PGA Tour National Qualifying Tournament at Winter Garden, Fla.

The top 25 finishers and ties will earn 2008 PGA Tour cards, while the next number of players nearest 50 will get full Nationwide Tour exemptions.

The 38-year-old Lickliter, a two-time winner on the tour, had 10 birdies -- six in a row on Nos. 2-7 -- on the Panther Lake course. De Jonge, from Zimbabwe, had two eagles and six birdies in his bogey-free round, also at Panther Lake.

Lickliter finished 139th on the money list this year, and de Jonge was 155th.

Brett Rumford and Jason Allred shot 66s on the Crooked Cat course, and Matthew Every and David Lutterus opened with 66s at Panther Lake. Harrison Frazar, Bob Heintz, Todd Demsey, Travis Perkins, D.H. Lee, D.A. Points, Matt Hansen and Tommy Gainey shot 67s while four-time tour winner Carlos Franco topped a group at 68 that included Ted Purdy, Jim McGovern and Gavin Coles.

Colt Knost, the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Amateur Public Links champion, shot a 75.

• Jane Park shot a 7-under 65 at LPGA International to take a two-stroke lead over 10-year tour veteran Kelli Kuehne after the first round of the LPGA final qualifying tournament at Daytona Beach, Fla.

The top 17 players Sunday after the fifth round will earn 2008 LPGA Tour cards while the next 35 will receive conditional status.

Park, the former UCLA standout who won the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur, opened with an eagle on the Legends Course, holing out with a 9-iron from 128 yards on No. 10. She birdied the 12th, then had five birdies and bogey on the front nine.

South Korea's Na Yeon Choi shot a 68 on the Champions Course. Russy Gulyanamitta, Sarah Lynn Sargent, Meredith Duncan, Carolina Llano, Sukjin Lee Wuesthoff and Jacqueline Yang shot 69s.

Corruption alleged Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp and chief executive Peter Storrie were among five people arrested Wednesday in an investigation into alleged corruption in English soccer. The men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting.

• Defending champion AC Milan moved into the second round of the European Champion League with a 1-1 tie at Benfica on Wednesday night, and Chelsea advanced with a 4-0 victory at Rosenborg.

TENNIS

U.S. players, fans excited Andy Roddick said he expects some boisterous patriotic spirit when the United States meets Russia this weekend in Davis Cup at Portland, Ore. Play begins Friday.

"I think we're expecting a rowdy crowd just based solely on the fact that it sold out in about 17 minutes," Roddick said. "That shows us people here want to be here and they're excited about being here. And so are we."

The U.S. team, under captain Patrick McEnroe, includes Roddick, James Blake and the top-ranked doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan.

Playing for Russia are Nikolay Davydenko, Igor Andreev, Dmitry Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny.
