Trae Young wanted the ball with the game on the line for the Atlanta Hawks.

Forget about that shooting trouble. The rookie star made the most of another opportunity.

Young grabbed a deflected inbounds pass and converted a last-second jumper to lift the host Hawks to a 136-135 overtime win over the shorthanded Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday.

Young missed each of his seven second-half shots from the field and his first two shots in the extra period. Even so, he plotted for a chance to grab what he figured would be a deflection on the final play of the game.

Just as Young expected, Milwaukee's Brook Lopez deflected Atlanta's inbounds pass intended for John Collins near the basket. Young grabbed the ball with his left hand and sank the short game-winner.

A video review confirmed Young got the shot off before the buzzer. The young guard finished with 12 points and 16 assists.

"I knew it was probably going to get tipped because Lopez was right there and I knew he was going to try to tip it out," Young said.

Washington 95, Denver 90: Tony Brown Jr. scored 24 points, Thomas Bryant and Jabari Parker each had 20, and the Wizards held the host Nuggets to 28 points in the second half. Nikola Jokic had 23 points and 14 rebounds for Denver, which leads Houston by two games in the race for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.

Golden State 137, Charlotte 90: Stephen Curry scored 25 points with five three-pointers and the Warriors beat the Hornets in Oakland, Calif., to clinch their fifth consecutive Pacific Division title and hand the Hornets their worst loss of the season. Curry has made five or more threes in a career-best eight consecutive games.

Dallas 106, Oklahoma City 103: Trey Burke had 25 points and eight assists, Dwight Powell scored the winning basket on a dunk with 21 seconds left and the Mavericks, playing without star rookie Luka Doncic (right thigh bruise), stunned the Thunder. Russell Westbrook had 25 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for his 30th triple-double of the season.

Los Angeles 130, New Orleans 102: Alex Caruso scored a career-high 23 points in only his 20th NBA game of the season, and the Lakers beat the host Pelicans. Both team missed their biggest stars: the Lakers' LeBron James and the Pelicans' Anthony Davis.
