Criminal persecution of Egypt's Coptic Christians

Escalating Persecution of Christians in the Middle East. The Coptic Christians of Egypt under siege

April 8, 2010 at 8:26PM

Roughly fifteen percent of Egypt's population are Coptic Christian. In the past thirty years, the number of Christian Copts murdered or seriously wounded by Muslim extremists amounts to over 4000. Attacks against the Christians is increasing. Most every Sunday, stonings, burning buildings, and harassments welcome Christian worshippers, preventing Coptic communities from celebrating Mass. "last November, in Ain Shams, a Cairo suburb, almost fifty Copts were wounded. According to press reports, thousands of Muslims had assaulted a Coptic church, where about 800 devotees were attending the morning mass."-A. Mahjar-Barducci, Hudson NY The Egyptian government apparently offers sparse intervention and little protection to these communities. "The government is an accomplice in the persecutions against the Christians. Besides, security services intervene only when attacks against Copts are over."-Magdi Khalil, Editor-Al Watani http://freecopts.net/english/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1163&Itemid=9
