• Obese people were 81 percent more likely if they had a low belly measurement, but more than three times as likely if they had a high measurement.
• The research is the latest evidence that fat in the abdomen is the most dangerous kind. Researchers suspect those fat cells are the worst because of their proximity to major organs. They ooze noxious chemicals, stoking inflammation and constricting blood vessels.
