The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday evening in southwestern Minnesota.

A 27-year-old man from Westbrook and a 3-year-old girl were in a 2001 Cadillac Deville that went off Hwy. 59 in Nobles County and struck a utility pole, the patrol said.

The patrol did not say if one or both occupants died in the single-vehicle crash, which was reported at 6:18 p.m. near milepost 17 in Elk Township, a few miles north of Worthington.

According to the patrol, the driver was heading south on Hwy. 59 when he drifted onto the right shoulder. While overcorrecting, the driver crossed into the northbound lanes and went into the ditch where the vehicle hit a utility pole.

No other information was immediately available.
