At least five people were hurt, one seriously, when an SUV slammed into a Holiday station in Edina on Saturday afternoon.

According to police scanner audio and witnesses, a silver Toyota RAV4 slammed through the front door and windows of the station at 5200 Interlachen Boulevard about 12:50 p.m., leaving one person unconscious and several others with injuries.

Police identified the driver as a 46-year-old woman from Edina. Her name has not been released. Police could not say whether the injured included people in the store or in the vehicle. The injured were taken to two hospitals.

Witnesses said the SUV was speeding down Interlachen and appeared to be unable to stop as it approached the store. No cause for the crash was given.

Edina police are investigating with help from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and the State Patrol.

The store was closed immediately after the crash and remained shuttered Sunday with the large puncture in front covered by plywood as cleanup continued.
