It all began in 1978, when the Minnesota Association for Adapted Athletics was formed. Now the state has the United States’ highest participation in four adapted sports sanctioned in high schools.
Maple Grove, which won the Class 6A state football title last season, leaves the Metro North to join the Metro West which already includes Minnetonka, Edina and Eden Prairie.
Mankato East won a duel no-hitter against Delano to reach the 3A final against Mahtomedi. Minnetonka and Cretin-Derham Hall advanced in 4A, Pine Island and Glencoe-Silver Lake in 2A and New Ulm Cathedral and Red Lake County in 1A.
