Investigators found methamphetamine at the home of the 64-year-old man who is accused of shooting multiple officers at his Princeton home two weeks ago.

According to a search warrant made public Monday, authorities found crystal-like substances that field-tested positive for methamphetamine at the house Karl Thomas Holmberg shared with his wife, Dorine Holmberg.

Investigators suspected the couple of selling methamphetamine, according to a separate search warrant made public last week. The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office drug task force entered the house on that warrant the morning of Oct. 12 following a monthslong investigation in which investigators purchased methamphetamine from one of the Holmbergs at the house on multiple occasions.

Soon after officers entered the home, Holmberg reportedly shot at the officers, injuring five. Two officers returned fire during the initial exchange of gunfire, and one later fired a less-lethal round to help officers take Holmberg into custody.

At that time, officers noticed black smoke inside the house and found a charred headboard. After Holmberg was arrested, investigators found a container and substance on the headboard that field-tested positive for meth. Authorities also found two digital scales, a handgun and a short-barreled shotgun in the house.

Holmberg was charged with six felony counts of first-degree attempted murder and six counts of first-degree assault. He remains in custody at Benton County jail on a $6 million unconditional bail. His next court date is Dec. 20.

Holmberg's attorney, public defender Robert O'Malley, did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.

Dorine Holmberg was previously convicted of three misdemeanors related to violent or drug-related crimes, but as of Tuesday she has not been charged for any involvement in the Oct. 12 shooting or for any recent drug-related crimes.
