BEHIND THE BUZZ: LAURA IZIBOR Who is she? She's black and Irish and a soul singer. At 22, Izibor moved to New York and released her debut on Atlantic last year. Her single, "From My Heart to Yours," ended up on "Grey's Anatomy" and received considerable exposure on VH1.

Why the buzz? At 15, Izibor won a song contest in Dublin. She dropped out of school, signed a major record deal and spent five years making "Let the Truth Be Told." In 2008, Rolling Stone put her on its list of "artists to watch," and she opened tours for Aretha Franklin, Maxwell and John Legend. Critics have compared her to Alicia Keys and Jill Scott.

What do we think? Her album sounds like the logical successor to Corinne Bailey Rae's debut. It's breezy pop-soul with a bit of grit and plenty of impassioned soulfulness. Think a hybrid of Adele and Alicia Keys.

When's the gig? 9 p.m. Thu., Fine Line, $17-$20.
