BEYOND Brand

Opening Saturday: Marketing has run amok when even presidential candidates are described as "brands" (Jeb! Hillary! Trump!). Still, even in these mendacious days, designers with gravitas are working to promote smart design, social responsibility and the common good. Twenty-one of them have converged to "make a statement, take a stand, provoke, honor, deliver and even make some design mischief." As a backlash against corporate hegemony, they may commit "brandalism." This will happen in media including posters, books, digital whatnots, magazine illustrations and 3-D statements. You've been warned. (Opening 7-9 p.m. Sat. Noon-6 p.m. Thu.-Sat. Free. Ends Sept. 5. Form + Content Gallery, 210 N. 2nd St., Mpls. 612-436-1151, www.formandcontent.org.)

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
