Break in the Cold for the Midsection

Westerly winds will allow milder air to spill across the Plains to the Midwestfor the next two to three days.Tuesday, temperatures will climb above freezing in Omaha, as well as KansasCity, where it will warm to nearly 40 F.

Des Moines, Ia. should have the mercury top freezing Tuesday, and Minneapoliscould hit 30 F.

Further warming will tack on another 10 F to 20 F to these readings by Thursdayafternoon, at which time the midsection will brace for a cold front triggeringa sharp downturn in temperature.
