Milwaukee Brewers General Manager David Stearns and his wife have expanded their roster at home just in time for the postseason.

Stearns' wife, Whitney, gave birth to a daughter, Nora, on Wednesday on the eve of Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Colorado Rockies. It's the couple's first child.

Owner Mark Attanasio said before the series opener that Nora had perfect timing in giving birth on the team's off day.

Ratings up

TBS is touting a ratings victory from its broadcast of the AL wild-card game, though some viewers on its digital app complained of technical issues leading to accidental blackouts.

The telecast of the New York Yankees' 7-2 win over the Oakland Athletics was the most-watched program on cable Wednesday night, based on overnight delivery. It reached a peak of 7.5 million viewers, the best for an AL wild-card game ever on TBS. Its average viewership of 6.4 million was up 51 percent from TBS's 2016 broadcast of the AL game between Baltimore and Toronto and 45 percent from last year's NL game between Arizona and Colorado.

Three Cubans try out

Three Cuban prospects, including top international free-agent Victor Victor Mesa, will try out for major league scouts on Friday at Marlins Park.

Also participating will be Mesa's brother, Victor Mesa Jr., and pitcher Sandy Gaston. All teams are invited to attend.

The Mesas, both outfielders, were recently declared free agents by Major League Baseball and can be signed by any team.
