A bus taking small children to classes collided with a car Wednesday morning in Cottage Grove near an elementary school, and authorities say there are injuries.

The crash about 7:25 a.m. left the Tutor Time of Cottage Grove child care center bus on its side near 80th Street and Hinton Avenue, a few blocks from Crestview School, according to police.

One of the seven children aboard and the bus driver were taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with minor injuries, police said.

The remaining children were unharmed and taken to their classes at Crestview and Newport schools, said Lydia Cisaruk, a corporate spokeswoman for Michigan-based Tutor Time.

"Our driver evacuated the children from the bus immediately, with assistance from the Crestview staff," Cisaruk said.

The bus was heading east on 80th when it collided with the westbound car, said city spokesman Scott Seroka. He did not say which vehicle was on the wrong side of the road.
