Last week, Chateau Lamothe ended its more than five years as one of the most recognized wine haunts south of the river when it shut its doors for good on Thursday.
The Burnsville restaurant was known for its wine selection -- most of it available by the glass. The Chateau, located at 14351 Nicollet Court, was a combination of restaurant and wine bar that also offered catering and events service.
Next year, chef Doris LaMott Hoel, former co-owner of the Chateau, will be in charge of managing the kitchen within the Neighborhood House at the Wellstone Center in St. Paul.
"We were given the opportunity of a lifetime, and we couldn't pass it up," she said in a news release.
She is continuing her Chateau Lamothe Catering, Fun Foods for Faith, and Fun Foods Catering businesses through her website, www.CateringIs Good.com.
Despite the fact that the family-run business is moving on, the owners said the relationships they made as they operated out of Burnsville won't be forgotten.
"Friendships, memories and stories will never be lost. This family-owned and operated establishment brought the south metro its 'Hidden Gem,'" said co-owner David Hoel in a news release.
