A man who was shot and wounded near 6th Street and Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis happened to be standing near two other men who were arguing, police said.

The shooting occurred about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, and responding officers located the 44-year-old victim inside the Jimmy John's sandwich shop on Hennepin, according to police. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning.
Police spokeswoman Sgt. Catherine Michal said two men were arguing, and one shot at the other. The gunfire missed and hit the victim in the hip.
The man underwent surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center. Authorities have yet to disclose his identity or his condition.
Michal said Minneapolis and Metro Transit police detained someone but not the shooting suspect.
In the wake of Tuesday evening's shooting along the city's popular dining and entertainment district, Downtown Council President Steve Cramer decried incidents of people taking up guns to settle personal disputes "whenever and wherever it occurs" and added that such violence "is especially unacceptable downtown, where the density of people present increases the chance of an innocent bystander simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Cramer, whose council promotes commerce downtown, added that "our community will not tolerate downtown becoming a free-fire zone, period. Any individual who behaves otherwise should count on being quickly apprehended, and feeling the full force of prosecution and sentencing come down on them."
