California Gets Rain; Snow in the Sierra

The West Coast will turn stormy Saturday with a steady, soaking rain movinginto California. Rainfall in general will run between 1/4 and 3/4 of an inch bySunday. The storm will bring a messy mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain towestern Oregon, which will no doubt cause poor travel conditions. The SierraNevada will get heavy snow, accumulating 1 to 2 feet by late in theweekend.The storm will spread snow across the Intermountain region Saturday night andSunday with 10 or 12 inches expected in the mountains of Utah and Colorado. Atlower elevations, snowfall won't be nearly as great. Salt Lake City may pick up2 or 3 inches of snow this weekend. Denver will get very little from thissystem.
