FOCUS ON FIVE STORY LINES

1 Alexander the pretty good Kansas City at San Francisco

Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith (right) gets his first crack at the team that traded him away after the 2012 season in favor of Colin Kaepernick. Will there be some revenge by the Bay?

2 Cardinals high flying Arizona at Denver

Are the Cardinals headed for a dream season? They are coming off a bye after victories against the Niners, Giants and Chargers. Beating the Broncos, who lost in OT at Seattle last week, puts Arizona No. 1 in power polls.

3 Texas two-step Houston at Dallas

The eyes of Texas are upon this game. Houston was 2-14 last season, and is already 3-1. Dallas, also 3-1, had an impressive trouncing of the Saints last week. Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray has four consecutive 100-yard games with a touchdown.

4 Top cats, for now Cincinnati at New England

The unbeaten Bengals go for their first 4-0 start since 2005. The Patriots are reeling from a loss at Kansas City.

5 Orton hears a who? Buffalo at Detroit

Kyle Orton is back as a starting NFL quarterback, taking over for E.J. Manuel for the Bills. The Lions are hoping to get back despite having WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) at half-speed.
