Feb. 23, 1955: Born in Cleveland.

1973: Ohio Class A high school player of the year, averaging 32 points per game.

1973-77: Four-year starting point guard for Gophers.

1977-81: Head coach Golden Valley Lutheran College (92-13 record).

1981-86: Assistant Gophers coach.

1986-88: Assistant coach University of Tulsa.

1988-95: Head coach in Rapid City, La Crosse and Sioux Falls in CBA (253-137 record).

May 11, 1995: Named Timberwolves assistant GM.

Dec. 18, 1995: Named Timberwolves head coach, his first NBA head coach job.

Feb. 12, 2005: Fired as Wolves coach (411-326 record).

July 21, 2005: Hired as Pistons head coach.

June 3, 2008: Fired as Pistons coach (176-50 record) after leading team to Eastern Conference finals in all three of his seasons.

April 14, 2009: Hired as Wizards head coach.

Jan. 24, 2012: Fired as Wizards head coach (51-130 record) after terrible start (2-15) to 2011-2012 season.

2012-13: ESPN basketball analyst.

May 3, 2013: Named Timberwolves president of basketball operations.
