When and where: Friday and Saturday at Hamline University in St. Paul

Daily start times: 9 a.m. for Class 2A, about 3:30 p.m. for Class 1A

Championship events Friday: girls' long jump, high jump, discus; boys' triple jump, pole vault, shot put; girls' and boys' 3,200 meters. Saturday — all other events.

Parking: Free at the State Fairgrounds. Free shuttle buses will run every 10 minutes.

Tickets: $10 adults, $7 students

Three track and field athletes who own a combined four all-time records highlight a strong corps of runners, jumpers and throwers who will compete at the state meet Friday and Saturday at Hamline University. Here are 10 to watch:

BOYS

Eric Colvin, senior, Stillwater

Favored to sweep the 1,600- and 3,200-meter distance events. Holds the top-seed times in both races. Stillwater teammates Wayde Hall and Eli Krahn, who helped make the Ponies Class 2A cross-country state champions last fall, will push hard.

Odell Howard, junior, Fridley

Eyeing a memorable state meet as the top seed in the 100 and 200. Reset the school record in the 100 this season.

C.J. Janu, senior, Spring Lake Park

The best performer this spring out of three hurdlers with a chance to sweep the 110 and 300 events. All-state in both events last season; took second in the 300 and third in the 110.

Grant Krieger, senior, Blake

Set state's all-time pole vault record this spring (16 feet) and went higher (16-1¼) at a national indoor meet in March. Going for his third consecutive Class 1A title.

Nathan Roese, senior, East Ridge

Defending 400 state champion clocked the fastest reported time this spring (48.26 seconds).

GIRLS

Maggie Ewen, senior, St. Francis

Simply out of reach provided she throws to her potential in shot put and discus. Reset her own all-time state record with a discus throw of 175 feet, 9 inches this spring. Going for her fourth consecutive discus crown. Also favored to win a third consecutive shot put title and could break the 10-year-old all-time record.

Clare Flanagan, junior, Blake

On pace to win a second distance running "triple crown." Won the Class 1A cross-country title and holds the top seed in both the 1,600 and 3,200 events.

Maria Hauger, senior, Shakopee

The other half of the state's distance running dynamic duo. Hauger, the first female to win four consecutive Class 2A cross-country titles, grabbed a triple crown last year and seems to be improving on the track with each passing year.

Wensia Johnson, freshman, Alexandria

Enjoyed an incredible spring, setting all-time state bests in the 100 (11.71 seconds) and long jump (19 feet, 5¼ inches). Adopted in 2004, Johnson and her younger sister left their family in Haiti for Minnesota.

Carolyn Nye, sophomore, Blake

Set the Class 1A meet record with a pole vault height of 11 feet, 7 inches last spring. Expects to push the bar even higher as she enters this meet with the top seed (11-8).
