August 2013: Head of the class

ESPN names Cornell, readying for his junior season at Cretin-Derham Hall, the nation's No. 1 college recruit for the Class of 2015. The first of what became more than 30 college offers arrives.

September 2013: Prime-time television

Cornell and the Raiders play against Stillwater on ESPN2, the first time the sports giant broadcast a Minnesota high school football game. He forced a fumble and made a tackle for loss, but Stillwater scored a 21-7 upset.

July 2014: Buckeyes-bound

Selecting from a top five that also included Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Iowa, Cornell makes a verbal commitment to Ohio State.

January 2015: Stepping up and out

After graduating from Cretin-Derham Hall in November, Cornell impresses in the Under Armour All-America game on Jan. 2 in St. Petersburg, Fla. He arrives in Columbus a week later to start spring semester classes and football workouts. He watches from campus as Ohio State wins the national championship.
