A child was rushed to a hospital late Saturday afternoon after being found at the bottom of an outdoor swimming pool at an apartment complex in Edina.

Around 4:30 p.m., the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office received a call about a possible drowning at the Normandy House Apartments at 4545 Valley View Road, according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Jon Collins.

The child was treated by first responders and rushed to Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. Further details, including the child's current condition, were unavailable, Collins said.

Last week, a 5-year-old boy was pulled from a swimming pool at the Foxridge Estates Apartments in Eagan in a similar scenario. He remained hospitalized this week, authorities said.

In that incident, the boy and his sister slipped out of their apartment undetected by their mother and walked to the pool, which was surrounded by a fence and locked gate.
