A chinook will warm the High Plains Thursday, but that mild flow will becrushed out of existence by much colder air coming down from the north thisweekend. The return of cold will be accompanied by snow, first in Montana andWyoming then shifting into Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas. This is just the tipof the iceberg so to speak since cold weather will persist across the Centraland Eastern states through the middle of January. This latest cold wave will become quite extensive next week covering a broadarea from the Rockies to the Eastern Seaboard. In addition to the cold weather,we are staring down the barrel of a possible major winter storm. Currently, webelieve that a disruptive snowfall is possible from the central Plains to themid-Atlantic states and New England in the Monday to Wednesday time period.

Sound exciting? It will be...
