Now open

The Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park visitor center is now open year-round. Winter activities include fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, geocaching, hiking and bird-watching. The center rents skis and snowshoes and offers GPS units and self-guided activity backpacks. It also sells bait; its winter trout season runs through March 31. The center offers outdoor education programs for visitors of all ages, and exhibits on native reptiles, amphibians and fish. Guests can get information on park programming, trail maps and bird sightings. (9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat.; Noon-5 p.m. Sun.
